L'angelo mi trasportò in spirito su di un monte grande e alto, e mi mostrò la città santa, che scendeva dal cielo, da Dio, risplendente della gloria di Dio.

Il suo splendore è simile a quello di una gemma preziosissima, come pietra di diaspro cristallino.

La città è cinta da un grande e alto muro con dodici porte: sopra queste porte stanno dodici angeli e nomi scritti, i nomi delle dodici tribù dei figli. 
A oriente tre porte, a settentrione tre porte, a mezzogiorno tre porte e ad occidente tre porte. 
Le mura della città poggiano su dodici basamenti, sopra i quali sono i dodici nomi dei dodici apostoli dell'Agnello. 
Non vidi alcun tempio in essa perché il Signore Dio, l'Onnipotente, e l'Agnello sono il suo tempio. 
La città non ha bisogno della luce del sole, né della luce della luna perché la gloria di Dio la illumina e la sua lampada è l'Agnello.

Moi, j’ai vu un ange qui m’entraîna par l’esprit sur une grande et haute montagne ; il me montra la cité sainte, qui descendait du ciel.

Elle resplendissait de la gloire de Dieu, elle avait l'éclat d'une pierre très précieuse, comme le jaspe cristallin. 
Elle avait une grande et haute muraille, avec douze portes gardées par douze anges ; des noms y étaient inscrits : ceux des douze tribus. 
Il y avait trois portes à l'orient, trois au nord, trois au midi, et trois à l'occident. 
La muraille de la cité reposait sur douze fondations portant les noms des douze Apôtres de l'Agneau. 
Dans la cité, je n'ai pas vu de temple, car son Temple, c'est le Seigneur, le Dieu tout-puissant, et l'Agneau. 
La cité n'a pas besoin de la lumière du soleil ni de la lune, car la gloire de Dieu l'illumine, et sa source de lumière, c'est l'Agneau.

He took me in spirit to a great, high mountain and showed me the holy city coming down out of heaven from God.

It gleamed with the splendor of God. Its radiance was like that of a precious stone, like jasper, clear as crystal. 
It had a massive, high wall, with twelve gates where twelve angels were stationed and on which names were inscribed, (the names) of the twelve tribes. 
There were three gates facing east, three north, three south, and three west. 
The wall of the city had twelve courses of stones as its foundation, on which were inscribed the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 
I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God almighty and the Lamb. 
The city had no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gave it light, and its lamp was the Lamb.
