KMAIR*

 

Quale uomo può conoscere il volere di Dio? Chi può immaginare che cosa vuole il Signore? 
I ragionamenti dei mortali sono timidi e incerte le nostre riflessioni, 
perché un corpo corruttibile appesantisce l'anima e la tenda d'argilla grava la mente dai molti pensieri. 
A stento ci raffiguriamo le cose terrestri, scopriamo con fatica quelle a portata di mano; ma chi può rintracciare le cose del cielo? 
Chi ha conosciuto il tuo pensiero, se tu non gli hai concesso la sapienza e non gli hai inviato il tuo santo spirito dall'alto? 
Così furono raddrizzati i sentieri di chi è sulla terra; gli uomini furono ammaestrati in ciò che ti è gradito; essi furono salvati per mezzo della sapienza". 

Quel homme peut découvrir les intentions de Dieu ? Qui peut comprendre les volontés du Seigneur ?
Les réflexions des mortels sont mesquines, et nos pensées, chancelantes ;
car un corps périssable appesantit notre âme, et cette enveloppe d'argile alourdit notre esprit aux mille pensées. 
Nous avons peine à nous représenter ce qui est sur terre, et nous trouvons avec effort ce qui est à portée de la main ; qui donc a découvert ce qui est dans les cieux ?
Et qui aurait connu ta volonté, si tu n'avais pas donné la Sagesse et envoyé d'en haut ton Esprit saint ?
C'est ainsi que les chemins des habitants de la terre sont devenus droits ; c'est ainsi que les hommes ont appris ce qui te plaît et, par la Sagesse, ont été sauvés.

For what man knows God's counsel, or who can conceive what our LORD intends? 
For the deliberations of mortals are timid, and unsure are our plans. 
For the corruptible body burdens the soul and the earthen shelter weighs down the mind that has many concerns. 
And scarce do we guess the things on earth, and what is within our grasp we find with difficulty; but when things are in heaven, who can search them out? 
Or who ever knew your counsel, except you had given Wisdom and sent your holy spirit from on high? 
And thus were the paths of those on earth made straight, and men learned what was your pleasure, and were saved by Wisdom.
