Prenez-moi tous pour modèle, et regardez bien ceux qui vivent selon l'exemple que nous vous donnons. Car je vous l'ai souvent dit, et maintenant je le redis en pleurant : beaucoup de gens vivent en ennemis. Ils vont tous à leur perte. Leur dieu, c'est leur ventre, et ils mettent leur gloire dans ce qui fait leur honte ; ils ne tendent que vers les choses de la terre. Mais nous, nous sommes citoyens des cieux ; c'est à ce titre que nous l'attendons comme sauveur , lui qui transformera nos pauvres corps à l'image de son corps glorieux, avec la puissance qui le rend capable aussi de tout dominer. Ainsi, mes frères bien-aimés que je désire tant revoir, vous, ma joie et ma récompense, tenez bon, mes bien-aimés.

Fatevi miei imitatori, fratelli, e guardate a quelli che si comportano secondo l'esempio che avete in noi.

Perché molti, ve l'ho già detto più volte e ora con le lacrime agli occhi ve lo ripeto, si comportano da nemici della croce: 
la perdizione però sarà la loro fine, perché essi, che hanno come dio il loro ventre, si vantano di ciò di cui dovrebbero vergognarsi, tutti intenti alle cose della terra. 
La nostra patria invece è nei cieli e di là aspettiamo come salvatore il Signore, 
il quale trasfigurerà il nostro misero corpo per conformarlo al suo corpo glorioso, in virtù del potere che ha di sottomettere a sé tutte le cose. 
Perciò, fratelli miei carissimi e tanto desiderati, mia gioia e mia corona, rimanete saldi nel Signore così come avete imparato, carissimi!

Join with others in being imitators of me, brothers, and observe those who thus conduct themselves according to the model you have in us.

For many, as I have often told you and now tell you even in tears, conduct themselves as enemies of the cross. 
Their end is destruction. Their God is their stomach; their glory is in their "shame." Their minds are occupied with earthly things. 
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the Lord. 
He will change our lowly body to conform with his glorified body by the power that enables him also to bring all things into subjection to himself. 
Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, in this way stand firm in the Lord, beloved.
