Si quelqu'un se demande à quel prix, voici la réponse : il n'a pas besoin d'une monnaie terrestre, celui qui offre un Royaume dans le ciel. Personne ne peut donner que ce qui LUI appartient déjà, puisque tout ce qui existe est à LUI. Et cependant, IL ne donne pas une si grande chose sans qu'on n'y mette aucun prix : IL ne la donne pas à celui qui ne l'apprécie pas. En effet, personne ne donne ce qui LUI est cher à celui qui n'y attache pas de prix. Dès lors, si IL n'a pas besoin de tes biens, IL ne doit pas non plus te donner une si grande chose si tu dédaignes de l'aimer : IL ne réclame que l'amour, sans quoi rien ne l'oblige à donner. Aime donc, et tu recevras le Royaume. Aime, et tu le posséderas... Aime donc plus que toi-même, et déjà tu commences à tenir ce que tu veux posséder parfaitement dans le ciel.

In cielo tutti insieme con Dio saranno un solo re e come un sol uomo, perché tutti vorranno una cosa sola e ciò che vorranno si realizzerà. Dal cielo Dio proclama che tutto questo è in vendita.

Se uno domanda a quale prezzo, gli vien risposto: non ha bisogno di un compenso terreno chi vuol dare il Regno del cielo, né alcuno può dare a Dio ciò che non possiede, perché tutto ciò che esiste appartiene a lui. D’altra parte Dio non dà del tutto gratuitamente una cosa di tanto valore, perché non la dà a chi non ama. Nessuno infatti dà ciò che ha di più caro a chi non l’ama. Dio quindi non ha bisogno di qualcosa di tuo, né deve dare una cosa tanto grande a chi non si cura di amarla; non cerca che l’amore, senza il quale non è tenuto a dare nulla. Dagli dunque l’amore e otterrai il regno: ama ed avrai... Ama Dio più di te stesso e già comincerai ad avere su questa terra quanto vuoi avere perfettamente in cielo.

the Kingdom of heaven absolutely everyone, as one person, will become one king alongside God, because all will desire one thing alone and their wish will be fulfilled. This is the good thing that, from heaven's heights, God puts up for sale.

Now if someone is wondering what the cost is, here is their answer: he who offers a Kingdom in heaven has no need of earthly coin. No one can offer God anything except what already belongs to him since all that exists is his. And yet God does not give away so great a thing without a price being placed on it: he does not give it to someone who doesn't value it. For indeed, nobody gives away something they hold dear without placing some kind of value on it. From now on, then, if God has no need of your goods neither does he have to give you this great thing if you refuse to love him: all he requires is love, without which nothing constrains his giving. Love, then, and you will receive the Kingdom; love, and you will possess it... Love God more than yourself and already you begin to have what it is you desire to possess fully in heaven.
